FSU football has a dire need for offensive tackles on its roster. 3-star offensive tackle Robert Scott wants to help solve that problem.

FSU football fans understand the importance of improving the offensive line. It’s crazy every time the coaching staff lands a commit from another position, fans still point to addressing the offensive line.

This is a commitment FSU football fans can celebrate with three-star offensive tackle Robert Scott flipping his commitment to the Noles.

Scott hails from Conway, Arkansas, and visited the hometown Arkansas Razorbacks over the weekend. He previously visited FSU the weekend of January 17th.

Scott had been committed to Ole Miss since June 2019 but was not an early signee with their change at head coach which effectively opened up his recruitment.

FSU’s new coaching staff have been recruiting him hard ever since and did a nice job on his recruiting visit communicating their need to have him in the 2020 class.

Scott is considered the No. 503 player and No. 38 offensive tackle in the nation. He’s the No. 5 ranked player in the state of Arkansas with offers from the likes of Ole Miss, Arkansas, Mississippi State, TCU, Louisville, Nebraska, Tennessee and Vanderbilt.

He checks in at 6’5 310 pounds.

Thoughts

This is a huge coup for the FSU football staff. One criticism from some fans was the staff’s inability to get offensive tackles thus far as it’s a huge position of need.

A big graduate transfer target in Devin Cochran decided to commit Georgia Tech Sunday and fans were disappointed in the news, but hopefully this news offsets that somewhat.

Scott isn’t a player who would have the same impact in 2020 as Cochran, but he is a player who can contribute for several years after getting in the strength and conditioning program.

In hindsight, that’s probably more important than a player who would only be here for one year.
