FSU football had its 2020 schedule released Wednesday morning by the ACC. We discuss if the schedule is more difficult than in 2019.

FSU football had a relatively easy schedule on paper in 2019 and failed to meet expectations. The schedule was set up nicely and they definitely should have won a minimum of eight games.

However, choking a huge lead away to Boise State in the opener seemed to be foreshadowing of things to come from a team stuck in mediocrity.

The Noles finished up the season 6-7, losing its bowl game to Arizona State with blowout losses to Clemson, Miami, and Florida.

Will the 2020 schedule be as friendly or more daunting? Check it out for yourself below and we’ll discuss:

  • 9/5 West Virginia (neutral site)
  • 9/12 Samford
  • 9/19 @ Boise State
  • Open
  • 10/3 @ NC State
  • 10/10 Clemson
  • 10/17 Wake Forest
  • 10/24 @ Louisville
  • 10/31 Pitt
  • 11/7 @ Miami
  • 11/14 Boston College
  • 11/9 @ Syracuse
  • 11/28 Florida

Thoughts

This schedule isn’t great for fans wishing to see the Noles in person other than the Samford game in week two. I’m not a fan of having the bye week so early in the year. I suppose will give the team time to get better from a scheme standpoint before some tougher games arrive.

However, it means the Noles will likely go into the latter half of the schedule beat up from that many games played in a row with no break. The thought of playing Pitt, Miami and Boston College in back-to-back-to-back weeks doesn’t seem fun.

It’s a more difficult schedule than 2019 for sure. NC State, Boston College and Syracuse were terrible last season so that gives us hope for wins as long as FSU is better coached. Samford should be a win.

It should be noted the Syracuse game is on a Thursday night on the road so that game will be on a short week rest wise.

It does give the Noles extra time to prepare for the Florida Gators to finish up the regular season.
