No. 10 FSU basketball avoided a perfect letdown spot on the road against Wake Forest. FSU fans rejoice in the seventh consecutive win.

It’s a win No. 10 FSU basketball needed to prove they may have finally gotten over the hump in terms of allowing previous games affecting how they play.

In years past, the Noles would play a great game and beat an opponent they were not supposed to beat or play well enough to get the win and come up short.

Usually that meant they would follow that performance up with a loss to a team they had no business losing too.

The Wake Forest game Wednesday night was a prime example for one of those situations as the Noles had just come off their big upset win over previously No. 7 Louisville.

They were going on the road to face a nearly .500 team they were seven point favorites against and the game was going about how we thought.

FSU basketball got out to a big 15-3 lead in the first five minutes, but Wake Forest would hang around with some help from the referees. They were able to trim the lead to 32-30 with four minutes remaining in the half before the Noles went on mini-run to close the half.

The second half is where FSU fans began to look at the game like here we go probably as Wake Forest came out with a lot of energy and went on a 11-0 run.

It seemed as though the Noles had no energy and needed some spark of sorts, and they got it from the defensive side of things and went on to put the Demon Deacons away by double-digits.

They did it despite the referees calling everything in the book for Wake Forest too as the fans react to the win.

Thoughts

I really would not have been surprised has FSU went on to lose the game after the hot second half start by Wake Forest. However, this team has come together rather quickly and can win in a variety of ways.

It’s even more impressive considering how they won. They couldn’t miss against Louisville and struggled from the floor Wednesday night and still covered the spread.

Things could get real interesting if they can get past No. 18 Virginia in their next matchup as the Noles are playing with a lot of confidence for their seventh consecutive win.
