FSU Has To Play Smarter Football

I know most will look at how penalized the Noles were in 2019 as an area to improve. However, it’s the mental and situational awareness part of the game I feel the Noles need to improve in the most.

There are a number of plays during the season which showed total lack of awareness repeatedly by FSU players.

Raymond Woodie III fair catching punts inside the 10 yard line not once but twice during the Sun Bowl are two recent mishaps.

DJ Matthews deciding NOT to catch punts and losing tons of field position several time during the season cost the Noles.

Brendan Gant consistently committing personal foul penalties for no apparent reason stood out.

Also, how many times did FSU football wide receivers run short of the first down chains to catch passes that were short of the first down marker?

These are things that can be controlled with better coaching and reinforcing the traits of winning football.
