FSU football was successful last decade than more folk realize because of the last three years. However, fans are confident things will be even better next decade.

FSU football fans are a proud group. It’s one of my favorite things I love about this fan base, but they have also been spoiled by the unmatched success of this football program over the past 40 years.

The way the past three years have gone would scar any fan base. To have one coach openly flirt with other jobs multiple years before quitting mid-way through the season to take a less prestigious job sent this fan base into a rage.

So much so they were hungry for anyone that showed them love and give them confidence the program would rise back to prominence again.

The former coach did that and failed miserably for reasons that were and were not his fault. However, this program is in the same position it was 10 years ago.

FSU football is coming off a season where they barely made a bowl game with one side of the ball looking absolutely ridiculous. In 2009 it was the defense and in 2019 it was the offense as of late that looked incompetent as the FSU defense seemed to find its footing as the season went on.

In both situations, FSU hired a new coach to take the helm with promises of bringing the Noles back to prominence.

The coach a decade ago delivered on that promise before steering the program into the ground.

Here we are again with Mike Norvell taking the helm and it appears FSU fans are confident he’s the man for the job.

Thoughts

Of course most FSU football fans felt the same way about Willie Taggart in January 2018. He could do no wrong in the off-season while having record attendance at the spring game.

It all became unraveled in the first game of the year and he never recovered and that’s the challenge Norvell faces as he appears to be making all the right moves.

To reach 96 wins that basically equates to averaging eight wins each regular season. Of course, the standard is much higher than that and it should be with the talent FSU football is able to attract every year.
