FSU football has holes to fill on its roster and is looking towards the JUCO market for players that can have more of an impact right away.

FSU football coaches have been pounding the recruiting trails over the past week as they’re evaluating the roster with players graduating or going into the transfer portal.

There are several positions of need that have to be addressed like offensive tackles, running backs, wide receiver and defensive ends.

FSU has been lacking at the offensive tackle position for years and the staff needs to hit the JUCO or transfer portal to flip the roster.

They have some young players that need to continue to develop in the strength and conditioning program, but need help immediately to help bridge the gap until they are ready to play.

The pass rush for FSU football has been non-existent since Brian Burns left for the NFL so the Noles are looking to address that issue also.

The thing is they may need to look even more into this area as there are not any for sure options on the roster who look to be able to contribute.

Here are some recent JUCO offerings from the coaching staff:

JUCO All-American defensive end Yaya Diaby who’s originally from Atlanta, Georgia.

JUCO WR/TE Omar Jones Jr. that’s listed as 6’5″ 240.

JUCO All-American offensive tackle that’s currently committed to Louisville and originally from Georgia. I don’t know and maybe it’s just me. but it seems this coaching staff is trying to poach a lot of Louisville commits and/or targets!

Thoughts

I think this is the way to close the gap in terms of positions of need to potentially get to seven or eight wins in 2020.

Hopefully the coaching will be improved and landing some players that are ready to contribute right away from the JUCO ranks or transfer portal will be enough to show some real progress in Mike Norvell’s first year.
