FSU football could be on the verge of hiring its next football coach. Memphis football head coach Mike Norvell looks to be the guy.

No. 17 Memphis football will be playing for the AAC Conference Championship Saturday against No. 20 Cincinnati.

The game will take place at 3:30 p.m. ET and will air on ABC with the game being played at Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium in Memphis, Tennessee.

Memphis is favored by -9.5 points with the over/under being 58 points courtesy of the Action Network.

That suggests Memphis should win somewhere in the neighborhood of 34-24. About 55 percent of the bets are on Cincinnati to cover the spread.

The two teams played last week and that was the exact score with Memphis leading the entire game.

As a FSU website you’re probably wondering why we have this game highlighted right? Well, FSU football fans are probably curious what a team coached by the guy rumored to be the next coach at FSU looks like.

Memphis head coach Mike Norvell is known as an offensive minded coach that’s produced some of the best offenses in the nation the last three years.

In fact, his offenses have been rated higher than Kendal Briles’ offenses each of those years according to SP+. Now, it’s not exactly apples to apples comparison with Briles being at three different schools each of those years and Norvell being at one place.

However, it’ll be interesting to see what happens there should Norvell be the hire. I’d also pay attention to the Memphis defense.

First year defensive coordinator Adam Fuller has improved that unit from No. 87 to No. 33 in ONE season according to SP+ statistics. That’s about 30 spots higher than FSU’s ranking, and the Noles would probably have nine wins this season with the Memphis defense.

If Norvell were hired at FSU would he bring Fuller with him or chase a former assistant that left for a power five  already?

Either way, there’s definitely good reason to watch this game if you haven’t seen Memphis play all season. It could be good foreshadowing of what’s to come in Tallahassee if he’s the next head coach.
