Former FSU star Dalvin Cook is having his best pro season so far in Minnesota – so should be getting more consideration for the league’s top award?

It was just over two and a half calendar years ago that Dalvin Cook went from the world of dominating for the FSU Seminoles at a record setting pace to being picked in the NFL in the second round by the Minnesota Vikings – only to watch his rookie season be cut short to an injury and year two be somewhat inconsistent.

Fast forward to year number three with the men in purple and Cook has been doing magical things – just 11 games into the season, Cook already has over 1,00 yards rushing and 11 touchdowns on the ground while averaging five yards a carry in helping to lead the Vikings into a tie for the lead of the NFC North division.

Heading into their Monday night showdown with the Seattle Seahawks in a game that will either help or hurt their playoff hopes, Cook knows he needs the same big game like he had when he played for FSU – and if he does have one, can it increase his chances of getting into the conversation as the league’s Most Valuable Player?

It’s an award that no former Seminole has won – and while some are saying the names of guys like Russell Wilson or Lamar Jackson from the 9-2 first place Baltimore Ravens (yea, buddy), others think Cook deserves at least a seat at the table.

Major outlets like Pro Football Focus and even our main page over at FanSided think that Cook is the MVP candidate that no one is talking about…but they should.

"“Dalvin Cook has had a stellar start to his NFL career and barring any serious injuries, he has the ability and skill to be a perennial All-Pro running back for years to come.”"

"“If the Vikings continue their assault on the NFC North and find a way to win the division for the second time in three years, Cook will garner considerable attention…Make no mistake, Cook is a dark-horse here. But another strong half should at least have him earning some votes on ballots.”"

With a schedule after the Seahawks that includes games against the Detroit Lions and Chicago Bears along with what looks to be a game against the Green Bay Packers for the divisional title, there are still plenty of chances for Cook to show the skills we as FSU fans know all about.

If he can do that, there is no reason why he shouldn’t at least get an invite to South Florida for a chance to win the top individual award.
