Lets take a look at this weekend’s matchup between the FSU football team and their foes from the Syracuse Orange for homecoming.

For the FSU football team, it has not been a good week of football with all the drama surrounding the team and the future of head coach Willie Taggart after a second straight loss – but don’t fear, fans of the Seminoles: their foe this weekend for homecoming in Tallahassee is in the same exact boat that the Noles are in.

Okay, the Syracuse Orange may not be trying to get rid of their head coach like many fans of the Seminoles want to do with Willie Taggart, but the men from western New York also come into this week’s game with a 3-4 record that comes on the heels of two straight losses in ACC play after what was supposed to be a much better season.

For the Noles, this week is going to be an important one – not just for what they can do, but for also stopping a team that was the first to give them a taste of what was going to take place all last season. Here is a look at how stack up against FSU football

Offense

For the men in orange and dark blue, they are led at quarterback by Tommy DeVito – a man who came in last season and torched the Seminoles for many of the 30 points scored. This season, he has continued that fire in throwing for over 1,600 yards to go along with 12 touchdowns – however, he has been stopped by being sacked an amazing 32 times in just seven games.

Most of DeVito’s passes have gone to wide receiver Trishton Jackson, who leads the team in both receptions, yards and touchdowns on the season. The sleeper at the position would be tight end Aaron Hackett, who has a touchdown for every four receptions this season (16 receptions total for for touchdowns).

The running game has been slightly down from the past as the Orange are averaging just over 110 yards total as a team per game, led by 370 yards on the ground by Moe Neal and 220 more from Abdul Adams this season.

Defense

For the season, Syracuse has come up with a total of 23 sacks – led by defensive lineman Brandon Berry with four and a half along with Josh Black and his four sacks so far in 2019. Linebacker Lakiem Williams leads the team in tackles on the season with 51 while defensive back Andre Cisco has two of the team’s seven interceptions for 2019.

Series Overview

For FSU football, the hope is that meeting No. 13 in the series won’t be unlucky as the Orange look to win their second straight over the Seminoles for the first time ever. Syracuse won the first meeting between the teams in 1966 before the Noles won 10 straight games – a streak that came to an end with a 30-7 loss last season.
