FSU football fans are back to being worried about missing a bowl game after the blowout loss this past weekend, but the schedule plays out much better.

I get it, FSU football fans: you’re upset with the Seminoles and head coach Willie Taggart because, for the second straight season, the Noles looked outmanned and overwhelmed by a Clemson team that looked like they are just going to coast their way toward the College Football Playoff for the fifth straight season.

I get it, fans: you still have a delusional thought pattern going on that, because the Seminoles won the national title just six years ago, they should be in the race for one each and every season – forgetting that the Noles were 6-6 just four seasons before that 2013 title and were left with a losing record by their former full time leader (he was 5-6, Odell Haggins won the final two games.)

I get it: you see the Seminoles with the same 3-3 record as they had last season – the first time they had a losing record since 1976 and the first time they didn’t go to a bowl game since 1981 – and have a worry that it’s going to happen again with a second half season failure.

Well, this is the item that many fans of FSU football need to hear even if they don’t want to at the moment: the Seminoles are going to go to a bowl game and win at least seven games in the regular season.

For that to take place, the Seminoles – a team whose three losses were by teams ranked entering this past week, with two being ranked when they played the Noles – would need to win four of their final six games at least.

One look at the second half of the season shows much fewer games that are certain losses than what we saw in 2018. Last season, the last five games included Clemson, Notre Dame and Florida – all three teams who ended up playing in a New Years Six bowl game with two of them making the College Football Playoff.

This season, the Clemson game has already passed – and before they face the Gators to end the season, the Seminoles have to play ACC games against Wake Forest, Syracuse, Miami and Boston College along with a FCS game against Alabama State.

Out of those final six games, which ones are the Seminoles going to lose? Wake Forest got exposed this week who was unbeaten based off good luck while Syracuse lost yet another game while showing they aren’t as good as last season – while Miami has to come to Tallahassee and could easily be 4-4 at that point depending on their two games before hand.

Should we be afraid of a Boston College team who lost to Kansas this season? Alabama State, a FCS team who is playing a Seminoles team that has never lost to a team at that level? Hell, Florida looks good but still has to play South Carolina next week and Georgia two weeks after that so they could have at least three losses and be a whole different team.

It’s sexier in the world of sports journalism to say the sky is falling and live in the current moment – a moment that shows the dark side of some FSU football fans or fans of any major program – but at this point, it’s not needed. The Seminoles will go bowling and have at least seven wins beef that…mark it down.

Now, if they lose to Wake Forest this week the whole thing could change – but for now, the good news still is on the side of the Seminoles.
