FSU football got a taste of just how much work they need to do to return to elite status against Clemson. Fans react to Clemson blowing out the Noles.

FSU football came into the Clemson game with some confidence after back-to-back ACC conference wins heading into their bye week.

However, a 45-14 loss at the hands of the Tigers brought FSU fans back to reality.

Clemson had barely survived to win on the road against a mediocre UNC team before heading into their bye week.

There was a reason oddsmakers still had the Noles as -27 point underdogs going into the game.

The sad part was Clemson covered the spread before halftime. In some ways this game seemed just as bad if not worse than last season because the many thought FSU would be able to do some things offensively.

However, they were awful and had less than 100 total yards going into halftime and were averaging less than two yards per play.

FSU football fans were not happy with the performance of the Noles coming off a bye week despite being huge underdogs:

Thoughts

I think a lot of FSU football fans were largely overreacting to the loss. I would reserve judgement to how the Noles play against upcoming teams on the schedule like Wake Forest, Syracuse, Miami and Boston College.

If the Noles can put it together and beat those teams they will finish the season with eight wins which is basically what I said they needed to right the ship.

The thing FSU coaches and players can’t allow is for this loss to Clemson to carry over into the Wake Forest game on the road.

The Noles were simply outmatched against Clemson as their offensive and defensive units were they best they has seen by far. The good news is the players didn’t seem to quit like they did last year.

If the Noles come out and look pathetic against Wake Forest next week that’s something I can’t defend any longer.
