FSU football got a huge win over NC State Saturday night 31-13 to improve to 3-2 on the season. I look at five takeaways from the game.

FSU football got its second consecutive ACC victory for the first time since 2016 on Saturday night. It wasn’t always pretty, but it was the most complete game the Noles have played all season.

The defense set the tone early with two consecutive three and outs which allowed the ‘Noles offense to get on the board first with an early field goal.

A key moment in the game was late in the first quarter when NC State pinned the Noles on their own 15 yard line. Their defense forced a three and out with FSU’s punter shanking the punt giving the Wolfpack the ball on the FSU 30 yard line.

The defense was able to hold them to a field goal on that possession which tied the game 3-3.

NC State brought a ton of pressure against the ‘Noles offensive line and Alex Hornibrook didn’t look comfortable at all during spurts of the game.

He was sacked eight times but probably 4-5 of those were on him for making bad decisions or holding the ball too long.

Overall, he helped lead the offense with enough explosive plays to negate a lot of the negative plays NC State forced on the night.

A ton of receivers touched the ball and Cam Akers’ patience finally paid off with a big touchdown run late to seal the deal for FSU.

It was the third consecutive game the offense didn’t turn the ball over(although they were quite lucky on a few plays).

Let’s take a look at my five takeways for the game.
