FSU Football finalizing 2020 schedule with Samford is a joke

FSU Football has found the final opponents for their schedule next season – a FCS team that took them too close into the final quarter last season.

With the 2019 season just one game in, the FSU football team has the attention of the fan base turned to the 2020 season for a moment this week when officials running the program announced who would be the final non-conference foe joining West Virginia, Boise State and Florida as the fourth game on the schedule for that season.

Is it going to be an in-state team like FIU or FAU? No. Is it going to be a first time foe like a Connecticut or someone like that? Nope. In fact, it’s going to be someone that the Seminoles have played several times this decade alone. You ready? Here it is…

FSU Football announced this past week that their final scheduled non-confernce game will take place against – the FCS foe Samford Bulldogs in a game that has not been scheduled for a specific date as of yet according to the Tallahassee Democrat.

Now, I am the first person to defend teams like the Seminoles playing FCS foes every so often – not two a season like the Florida Gators are doing this season, though – because I get that for many teams, playing a FBS foe like the Noles is how the program is going to get most of the money they need to run their program above a debt.

It changes, though, when you have other teams out there that are available in the FBS level – including those who are from the Sunshine State – that are out there for the Seminoles to face in the upcoming season.

It’s also bothersome when you look into the fact that FSU football not only had a dog fight last season with the men from the state of Alabama – the Seminoles were at risk of being upset as they trailed in the fourth quarter when the teams met last season in Tallahassee.

With the Seminoles slated to open up the season against the Mountaineers in Atlanta on September 5th, playing the Bulldogs the week later for example sets a possible game where the Noles could find themselves in a tough spot in back to back games under what may at this point be the third season under head coach Willie Taggart.

At this rate, I guess I’m not happy with it but I will accept it – but can we please cancel that trip to Boise for the second game in the series? Did we not all see what took place last week?
