Way Less Penalties

FSU football has been on of the worst teams in the nation when it comes to being heavily penalized. They averaged 9.2 penalties for 71 yards per game in 2018.

The good news is we saw that number almost cut in half against Boise State. That was pretty amazing considering it was the first game of the season.

FSU was on the field for a total of 108 defensive plays and 62 offensive plays. They only had five penalties for 44 yards Saturday.

That’s an average of being penalized three percent on the total plays of a game. The average in 2018 was they were penalized on six percent of the total plays on the season.

If the Noles are able to keep this pace they’ll literally cut their penalties in half from last season.

The only downside was the penalties they did have Saturday were at crucial moments. One example was the offensive line had a holding play on the first play of the second half that put the offense behind the chains.

Those are the types of penalties that have to be eliminated for the teams to stop with so many self-inflicted wounds.
