Limit Penalties

FSU football has been among the worst in college football the past couple of seasons. However, they were literally like tied for the worst last season as they averaged nine penalties for 71 penalty yards per game.

In their seven loses? FSU football averaged 10.3 penalties for 79 yards per game. They had 16 penalties in back-to-back games against Clemson and NC State.

That’s typical when Willie Taggart takes over a program for whatever reason. However, history suggests that the second year always gets better as his teams have a better understanding of what they are trying to do on both sides of the ball.

A lot of their issues last year were lining up incorrectly or false starts penalties. Things that can be fairly easy to correct.

What they can’t afford is false starting on 3rd and 2 or 1st and 10, or a dumb penalty for unnecessary roughness for hitting a player out-of-bounds on defense when its third and 10.

I’d like to see them have seven or less penalties in this game against Boise State.
