If you’re a fan of FSU football and you haven’t gotten a reservation for a hotel on three specific dates this season, you might be staying outside the city.

If you are a fan of the FSU football team or was a student at the school at one point, you know that football Saturdays in the city of Tallahassee can get really crowded – not just from the 80,000+ fans that come to Doak Campbell Stadium each home game, but the 25,000 more that attend games across Gaines Street at FAMU.

With 2019 being the 73rd season that both teams have competed at the same time, you would figure by now – with technology being so advanced and the Seminoles releasing their schedule not long into the calendar year of 2019 – that having both programs playing at home at the same time would be a minimal issue for the city.

Well, for three weekends this fall, hotels will be packed to their capacities and it will be fun to drive through crowded streets as both FSU football and the Florida A&M Rattlers will be having home games on the same Saturday.

On September 21st, the Seminoles will host Louisville while FAMU will take on Southern – and the last two come in the month of November as the Noles host Miami on November 2nd and Alabama State on the 16th while the Rattlers face off with Delaware State and Howard on those respective dates.

If you are an administrator from either school, your hope and prayer is that the games on September 21st and November 16th aren’t going to be as big of a deal as – with all due respect – both Louisville and Delaware State aren’t going to be games where the Seminoles will likely bring a sellout crowd to town.

Now, November 2nd is a different story as you have the large amount of fans from the south and central Florida and around the country for both the Seminoles and Hurricanes who have already filled Tallahassee’s limited hotel rooms – practically eliminating anything for fans of the Rattlers or Hornets.

It’s a problem that has a simple solution from the beginning: next year, the athletic director from FSU, David Coburn, and his staff needs to reach out to our friends at FAMU, former FSU football assistant coach Dr. John Eason, and work out their schedules with their respective conferences to avoid this situation as much as possible.

But for this season, whether you root for the Seminoles or the Rattlers, if you haven’t booked a hotel for any of those three weekends – well, it might be too late.
