FSU football knows there is one position on the offense that must improve big time after at least three seasons of being among the worst units nationally.

For the last three seasons of college football, there has been no doubt that the FSU football team – no matter whether we’re talking about the 10-3 team that won the Orange Bowl in 2016 or the 5-7 team that has been attacked from last season – has been consistent for having one of the worst offensive lines in the game.

That’s not us being picky against the Seminoles based off last season because even in the two winning campaigns before, both quarterbacks Deondre Francois and James Blackman were constantly having to be helped up off the ground multiple times after being sacked again and again and again.

With FSU football on their third offensive line coach in the last three seasons, the Seminoles are determined to make the offensive line somewhat respectable – and through the first few practices of the fall, it seems to be working.

The unit was without several big names from the past few years – namely Landon Dickerson who took his injury plagued career to Alabama and Cole Minshew, who is out for the start of camp with an injury – but seems to have a  more physical and athletic approach under new position coach Randy Clements.

One player in particular who is getting praise would be redshirt offensive tackle Jajun Williams, who according to the Tallahassee Democrat was doing grown man work on maybe the best defender FSU football will have this season.

“Working with the first team at left tackle, Williams was among the first linemen to work in one-on-one reps against Marvin Wilson. Not only did Williams win the rep against one of the best defensive linemen in the country, he did so easily, never getting close to letting Wilson by him no matter how hard he tried.”

With all the praise being rightfully given to Wilson this offseason about what we can expect from him in the 2019 season, Williams can use this as a teaching tool about what to do for the Seminoles during the up and coming season.

Yes, it’s way too early to be predicting a huge turnaround from what we have seen in the past few seasons from FSU football – but even a 50 percent improvement could mean amazing things for the Seminoles this season.
