FSU football: Nole players signing off social media on eve of fall camp
By Kelvin Hunt
FSU football will begin its fall camp Friday, August 2nd. It looks like FSU players are locking in as they officially begin prep for Boise State.
FSU football used to have a social media ban during the season under the old regime. I’ve heard some people say the old coaching staff implemented it, then I’ve heard the players implemented it.
That wasn’t the case last season in Willie Taggart’s first year in Tallahassee. A number of players posted on social media during the season.
I’m sure there’s no correlation to teams posting on social media and having success or not. However, when you had a season like FSU football had in 2018 it’s easy to point to things and dissect them.
I think most fans would say if players spent more time putting in work instead of playing on social media the team would have had better results. At the very least they wouldn’t have seen all the negativity that comes with a season like they had.
It looks like the team or at least some of its players are going back to abstaining from being on social media as fall camp begins Friday. A few of the players seem to be signing off on Twitter and other platforms:
Thoughts
I’m all for it. Social media is a place that can change like the wind and the season is a grind. If the Noles come out and beat Boise State it’ll be all love.
Should the Noles lose the opener, social media will become a huge wave of negativity. At a place like FSU, those expectations come with the territory and it’s one reason why they chose to play in Tallahassee.
It’s best to control the situation by removing themselves from it and controlling what they can control and not giving anyone any ammunition regarding how they are spending their time off the football field.
Players have used social media to post them putting in the work this summer, and now it’s about fine tuning everything in fall camp to get year two of the Willie Taggart era off on the right foot.
