FSU football was able to flip a longtime commit to their hated rival this past year and those some of those who wear orange and blue were not happy.

Growing up as the child of graduates of Florida State University and having a father who was associated with FSU football while in school, I was raised to love the garnet and gold with all my heart – and, at the same time, loath everything about the rivals from Gainesville known as the Florida Gators.

It’s something that I carried with me growing as a fan and continued later as a student and now spread the word to the rest of the Seminoles fan base as an alumni of the school – that there is hardly anything good that can come from anything associated with that God awful orange and blue combo.

It’s something that those who have committed to be part of the next great recruiting class in Tallahassee know as well – especially someone who grew up literally less than 30 miles from the campus of UF and was at one time committed to be a member of the Gators’ recruiting class.

Three star defensive end Josh Griffis is the player we are talking about – and while he is suiting up for his third season at IMG Academy, he is a native of Starke and during an interview with the Miami Herald talked about growing up a huge fan of the Gators being so close by.

Griffis went into detail about the recruiting process and the chaos in Gainesville after former head coach Jim McElwain was let go – before expressing frustration at those in the area he grew up in who can’t understand why Griffis would actually want to go to the better of the two schools.

"“It’s real annoying,” Griffis said. “the real close ones will always support you whatever you do. It’s your choice. It’s not about what your favorite team is, it’s about what’s best for you. They’ve never been through the recruiting process. People don’t know how stressful it is. It’s just different. Once you go through it as an athlete, you’ll understand how it all works.”"

It’s very good to see that the future of FSU football knows what we have been saying for years and decades before – it’s really annoying to be a Florida Gators fan and you should try to break away at any point you can before it’s too late.

If we’re going to be honest with each other, anything is possible in the world of recruiting and Griffis could realistically sign with a school like Florida or any other program like Miami, Georgia or even Ohio State – but after reading that quote, it’s pretty obvious he is Nole blooded.
