FSU Football: Thoughts on FSU representatives for ACC Kickoff
By Kelvin Hunt
Junior defensive tackle Marvin Wilson and redshirt sophomore Tamorrion Terry will represent FSU football at ACC Kickoff.
FSU football announced its two representatives to attend the ACC Kickoff later this month with head coach Willie Taggart.
For the second consecutive season, no FSU Football quarterback will be in attendance which is usually the norm for most programs as the unquestioned leader of the team.
The last two years have been a bit weird in that regard for Willie Taggart. Last season, there was a real three-way QB battle between Deondre Francois, James Blackman and Bailey Hockman.
I thought James Blackman would get the nod in one of these spots, but it likely would tip Willie Taggart’s hand in regards to the “QB competition” going into fall camp even though most presume Blackman as the starter already.
Brian Burns and Cam Akers were the representatives in Taggart’s first year in Tallahassee.
However, it’s not like Wilson and Terry are not deserving of the honor as both were arguably the most dominant players of those returning on their side of the field in 2019.
Most sites have both players among the best in their respective positions in the nation. Both players are likely candidates to leave for the NFL Draft with strong seasons in 2019.
Blackman would have been a great player to send as he’s a good interview and gives thoughtful answers most of the time.
However, Wilson and Terry are strong choices and seem to have emerged as leaders on and off the field.
Terry is the more reserved of the two but it should be a great experience as a ton of eyes will be on him to replicate and surpass the numbers he put up last season.
Both players will be focal points for opposing teams to identify in trying to limit their influence in games for the Noles.
ACC Kickoff will take place July 17-18 at The Westin in Charlotte, North Carolina, on July 17-18.
