Turnovers

Do you know how many turnovers the FSU offense had in 2017? I’m glad you asked. They had 26 turnovers consisting of 13 interceptions and 13 fumbles lost.

If you’ve read this site before this is nothing new to you, but these turnovers were critical in a number of games last season.

Do you want another crazy stat? FSU had 22 of those turnovers to turn into 79 points for opposing offenses because they got field position on FSU’s side of the field after the turnover.

Not surprisingly, 17 of the 26 turnovers came in their seven losses.

As we’ve said many times, turnovers are often random in that balls bounce certain ways or balls get tipped at times. Sometimes they go your way and sometimes they don’t, but most of the turnovers last season were self-inflicted.

The Noles were -11 when it came to turnover margin in 2018 and that needs to improve drastically.
