FSU Football: 5 players that need to step up in 2019
By Kelvin Hunt
Levonta Taylor
The safety position was a huge liability for the Noles last season and it looks like former five-star cornerback Levonta Taylor will be looking help fill that void.
Taylor came to the Noles as the top recruit in the 2016 class and No. 7 ranked player in the nation.
He had a great 2017 season which saw him lead all Power 5 cornerbacks with an average of 30.6 snaps in coverage per reception allowed, and ranked first among ACC cornerbacks with a passer rating of 26.1 when targeted in coverage.
However, he started the first eight games of the 2018 season playing injured with a stress fracture in his back but missed the remaining four games.
Taylor has excellent coverage ability when healthy and plays bigger than his size which should be valuable in his transition to safety.
It’s his money season and strong play from Taylor means the FSU secondary should be much improved in 2019.
