FSU football has had one of the worst offensive lines in the nation in 2018. How will losing Landon Dickerson impact the team in 2019?

FSU football will be a man down in 2019 along the offensive line now that Landon Dickerson has officially entered his name into the transfer portal.

The Noles have been trying to address its needs along the offensive line through recruiting. They brought in some reinforcements with five offensive linemen in the 2019 recruiting cycle.

There were four offensive linemen that came in the 2018 cycle that may be able to contribute some snaps in 2019.

However, it was expected Dickerson would be a starter on the line this season after missing all but two games with an injury.

That’s been the knock on him during his time in Tallahassee. Dickerson is arguably the best offensive lineman on the team when healthy, but he’s only played in 13 games in three seasons and over half of those were his freshman year.

What The Impact of Losing Dickerson?

Well, no question it’s a loss if we could guarantee he could stay healthy. However, since that’s not the case I’m not sure losing Dickerson is that big of a blow to the team.

Here’s what I do know. Dickerson putting his name in the transfer portal and then withdrawing it a few months ago probably didn’t endear him to his teammates.

I wonder if there were some underlying issues with Dickerson and some teammates or something?

It could be him leaving the program is what’s best for both sides in the long run. I can’t imagine a player putting his name in the portal after being injured so much is a good thing.

It could be some players were questioning his commitment to the team with the earlier transfer portal saga. Either way, it can’t be looked upon as a huge loss since it wasn’t a sure thing he’d play the whole season. At the very least it’s a another scholarship opened up for recruiting purposes.

The only question is who’s going to step up and fill that starter spot on the offensive line?
