FSU football is finding more and more positive things being said about them after the first losing season in over four decades for the program.

It wasn’t all that long ago where members of the FSU football fanbase were losing their minds and calling for immediate change after the beloved Seminoles team did something they hadn’t done in over four decades – had more losses than wins in the same season for the first time since Bobby Bowden’s inaugural campaign in 1976.

Fast forward to the month of May and – wouldn’t you know it – a certain sense of calm has sprung on those in garnet and gold. Is it finally realizing that the dumpster fire was around long before Willie Taggart took over? Was it realizing that the Seminoles were, in fact, a blown call away from being bowl eligible?

Maybe both of those get a yes as a response, but the most important thing for the FSU football team may be this one simple fact: the sun has come up each day and the Seminoles have a much better road in front of them for the 2019 season.

From an easier schedule (no Notre Dame and Clemson in a three game period, for example) to a team that looked much better during spring drills, FSU football is ready to get back out onto the field August 31st for the season opener against Boise State.

Until then, fans will have to just read all the positive things being written about the Seminoles – not just from us here at Chop Chat, but also places like College Football News and their recent column in which they have the Seminoles ranked nearly 50 spots higher than where they had Taggart’s team at the end of the 2018 season.

"34. Florida State SeminolesFSU will be in for a better Year Two under Willie Taggart, but only if the offensive line play that’s been a problem for the last two seasons improves. Cam Akers is a special running back, and the receivers are in place for either James Blackman or Alex Hornibrook at quarterback. The defensive back seven is going to be as good as any in the ACC as the year goes on."

Now, of course the graduate of FSU and longtime supporter of FSU football know that this doesn’t mean the Seminoles are good enough to be an actual ranked team at this point according to one insider, but I’ll take being called the 34th best football team as opposed to the 83rd best just over four months ago.

Willie Taggart on hot seat references are tiring. light. Related Story

FSU football is in a position where one of two things will take place this season – either the Seminoles will shock some people and make a deep run in the ACC or will barely be lucky to go bowling once again. Call me crazy, but I’m going to stick with option number one at this point.
