FSU football right now is sitting in the driver’s seat when it comes to getting the best talent from the Sunshine State that is a part of the 2020 class.

In recent days, the recruiting news for the 2020 signing class in college football made the headlines when the Clemson Tigers – a team currently on a four season winning streak over FSU football – was able to get a verbal commitment from the top ranked player from the state of Florida, giving them now commitments from the top two players.

At the same time, the Seminoles have had some good commits of late from both inside and outside the state and currently are ranked sixth nationally in the 2020 class by 247 Sports – two spots behind hated rival Miami and one spot behind another hated rival, Florida.

While the Noles are sitting in the third spot among the big three teams from the state entering the week, FSU football can sit pretty knowing that – in actuality – they are leading the Sunshine State when it comes to getting early commitments from the top names in the 2020 signing class.

One look at the top 50 recruits from the state of Florida shows the Seminoles having the lead among the in-state programs with 12 players either verbally committed or favored to do so in the coming months before the early signing period in December.

"No. 15 – Jaylan Knighton (RB / Deerfield Beach)No. 19 – Demorie Tate (CB / Orlando) ***COMMITTED***No. 22 – Michael Redding III (WR / IMG Academy in Bradenton)No. 27 – Lawrance Toafili (RB / Pinellas Park)No. 28 – Jadarius McKnight (S / Fort Myers) ***COMMITTED***No. 29 – Malachi Wideman (WR / Sarasota)No. 30 – Arian Smith (ATH / Mulberry)No. 33 – Caziah Holmes (ATH / Cocoa)No. 35 – Keyshawn Greene (LB / Crawfordville) ***COMMITTED***No. 41 – Jalen Harrell (CB / Miami) ***COMMITTED***No. 48 – Jayion McCluster (LB / Largo) ***COMMITTED***No. 49 – Jeff Sims (QB / Jacksonville) ***COMMITTED***"

It is a little ironic, when you look at the list, that FSU football has commitments from the lowest four names on the list but when you look at the talent that is there – all four of them have at least four stars at this point – there is plenty to be optimistic about when it comes to the Seminoles and the #Tribe20 class.

At the same point, the Seminoles need to get some attention to the recruits that have not committed to a school – as right now, FSU football stands in the conversation for the No. 13 player, defensive tackle Jalen Carter from the Orlando area, as the highest ranked player still considering the Noles.

After two seasons of average class rankings, the Noles are in position to make a big splash at the end – and closing out strong at home should do that just fine.
