FSU football added its 10th commitment to the 2020 recruiting class late Tuesday night. FSU fans react to Derek Bermudez choosing the Noles.

Remember how I said Willie Taggart likes to stage FSU football commitments in bunches to establish momentum?

Look no further than FSU’s third commitment in less than a week for the 2020 recruiting cycle.

Three-star defensive back Derek Bermudez was the second defensive back taken in this recent spurt with both being sort of under the radar type commitments.

He’s not even rated by all of the recruiting services but has offers from a lot of major programs like: FSU, Florida, Auburn, Georgia, LSU, Miami, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Virginia Tech and others.

Thoughts

The first thing a lot of folk and rivals want to point out is that he’s only a three-star. However, I tend to look at which schools have offered and the list I rattled off earlier tells me all I need to know.

I wrote about how FSU seems to be trending towards larger defensive backs with great length and Bermudez definitely fits that mold.

He’s listed at 6’2″ and 180 pounds as a high school junior which is impressive.  Bermudez is the fifth defensive back in the class which should be about all they’ll take this cycle unless other things happen with the class.

This latest commitment moves FSU football back to No. 7 nationally and No. 3 in the ACC behind Clemson and Miami.

Look for the Noles to make a move along the trenches and at skill positions like running back and wide receiver. That’s where the biggest needs for this recruiting cycle are at the moment.
