FSU football could have another high draft pick later this month selected, but the former stud defensive end doesn’t really care where he’s predicted to go.

Within a few weeks, the next great former FSU football defensive end could get selected very early on in the 2019 NFL Draft when it takes place in Nashville, Tennessee – as Brian Burns has been climbing up the mock boards following an impressive combine and pro day last month that helped up his stock.

While Burns has always been known to be a talent, there were some who weren’t giving him the credit in part due to the lack of success in the win column that the Seminoles had over the last two seasons. But after 23 sacks over three seasons, including 10 and a half last year, Burns will no doubt make someone look smart for selecting him.

Whoever that team is still remains to be seen – but there have been mock drafts that have him going anywhere from a top five pick to the middle of the first round and even some haters that have the FSU football star having to wait until day two to get picked.

In an interview with Sports Illustrated, Burns said that it doesn’t matter what the mocks say – adding that several teams, including those like Carolina and Arizona are among the ones who have been talking to him the most.

"“There’s really no range for me. It goes from the highest at 4 to 26 or 31 or wherever. It’s all a blessing at the end of the day to be in the first-round talk. At the end of the day it’s all good.”"

Burns has always been a player who is wise beyond his youth during a rocky time with the FSU football program and played with a maturity that helped him on and off of the field – so it should be no surprise that he is keeping the same mindset with the next step.

Another item was that Burns had his monster combine – which included running a 4.53 in the 40 yard dash – after gaining 23 pounds from his playing weight with the Seminoles, which he gained by going hard in the weight room and in the kitchen.

"Burns would eat eggs, toast and sausage for breakfast. After a workout, he would then have his first protein shake. For lunch it was chicken or steak with brown rice, potatoes and kale, followed by another workout and another shake. He’d head back home and have the dinner that was prepared for him by EXOS. Then he’d maybe bake chicken or cook some pasta (his brother taught him to cook those). And right before bed he’d have a peanut-butter-and-jelly sandwich to sit on his stomach all night."

We all knew Burns was going to be special when he arrived on campus after a star studded high school career outside Fort Lauderdale that saw him become a five star recruit. Now, we get to see him make FSU football proud when he shines at the next level.
