FSU Football is already working on getting the class for #Tribe2020 into order, and the Noles may be going back to the Pacific Northwest for talent.
Say what you want to about the 2019 recruiting class for FSU football, but if the Seminoles did anything right they addressed the top two positions of need entering the upcoming season: an offensive line that couldn’t keep Deondre Francois or Cam Akers upright last year and a secondary that couldn’t stop a cold.
At the same time, the Seminoles did not shy away from getting some other positions to stock up – and while the quarterback position has been the one getting the most attention, the Noles did address the linebacker room with three players signing in the 2019 class.
An early look at the 2020 class for FSU football according to one website has head coach Willie Taggart and the Seminoles in the lead for the top linebacker in the upcoming recruiting cycle – and it means heading back to the state of Washington.
247 Sports released their updated list of top recruits for the 2020 class and have the fourth ranked player overall in linebacker Sav’ell Smalls, a five star player from the Seattle area, listed as a favorite to take his talents to Tallahassee once he is done with high school.
If that high school sounds familiar to FSU football fans, it is where Taggart and the Seminoles went in the 2018 class to get wide receiver Tre’shaun Harrison – a four star recruit who had been recruited by Taggart for a while when he had been the coach of the Oregon Ducks.
Taggart has shown in the last class that he knows that the bread and butter of FSU football recruiting is obviously the Sunshine State as well as Georgia, but he also knows the use the experience and relationships he has built at other stops to help bring the best players in – including a five star linebacker possibly willing to move across the country.
If there is one negative for the Seminoles in the newest rankings, the three players who are ahead of Smalls are all either committed to ACC Atlantic foe Clemson or have the Tigers as their favorite at this point.
