FSU football is clearly in the market for a quarterback and one ESPN writer thinks that if there were trades in the college game they could get one quickly.

If you’ve been living under a rock since the February signing day took place, you wouldn’t know that the FSU football team has been the subject of plenty of critiques not about all the good players they brought in – but for the inability to sign a quarterback for the second straight class under head coach Willie Taggart.

It has been the subject that people have used to say Taggart is ready to lead the Noles – which is totally bogus – and has been the subject of conversation when it comes to who is left in the transfer portal at that position or whether Jordan Travis can get a transfer wavier so he can backup James Blackman this coming season.

Well, while we have the portal which is starting to become the college game’s equivalent of free agency, FSU football might just be in lucky if one writer’s fantasy actually came true.

During a recent article on what trades should take place in the game for the 2019 season, ESPN.com college football writer Edward Aschoff put the Seminoles first and foremost by trading two of their defensive starters for next season to the Pac-12 for one of the top quarterback recruits a couple years ago.

"Washington junior QB Jacob Eason for Florida State junior DT Marvin Wilson and senior CB Levonta TaylorFlorida State is desperate to get things going on offense, and that means the Noles need an elite quarterback. Eason…was the No. 1 QB prospect in the 2016 recruiting class and a 13-game starter in the SEC at Georgia before a knee injury ended his 2017 season early. The athletic, versatile, 300-plus-pound Wilson was the No. 1 DT prospect in 2017…Taylor is coming off an injury but is a shutdown corner and All-American type when he’s healthy."

Now, I know that we are living in a fictional world when it comes to this and it would never happened – but let us just suspend reality for a moment and analyze this.

As much as it may make people mad, I wouldn’t have a problem if FSU football parted ways with Taylor. He came in with so much hype and, quite frankly, has underachieved even when he has been healthy for the Seminoles.

At the same time, I would have to package another player other than Wilson if a deal like this were to actually take place. The big man from Texas is going to be a cog in the middle of the line for hopefully the next two seasons and could, if he plays to potential, end up being the best defensive tackle in the game.

While Eason would have two years of eligibility left and would create a situation where him and likely FSU football starting quarterback James Blackman would be battling it out, at this point Taggart and the Noles need to explore all avenues when it comes to that position.

Alright, we’re back to reality and realize that Taylor and Wilson will be suiting up for the Seminoles next season – someone get a copy of that portal so we can make a few calls.
