FSU football may not have a QB for 2019 yet, but they landed a big target for 2020 with Jeff Sims. FSU fans react to his commitment.
FSU football had its junior day and hosted a lot of great talent for 2020 and beyond. They already had four commits for 2020 going into Saturday but might have landed its most important recruit in QB Jeff Sims.
The Noles offered Sims just over a week ago and he immediately scheduled a visit to Tallahassee for its Junior Day.
Sims hails from Sandalwood High School in Jacksonville, Florida. That’s also the home of former Nole great defensive end DeMarcus Walker.
Sims committed to the Noles on Saturday and commented on the experience below:

Thoughts
This is a huge get for FSU football as there seemed to a growing perception FSU couldn’t land a quarterback.
Sims is rated as composite 3-star QB, but don’t let that ranking fool you as rankings for 2020 are largely inaccurate because it’s so early. He’s in the conversation for one of the best quarterbacks of the 2020 recruiting class.
He has a huge arm and is already 6’3 195 pounds. He has an entire year or more to allow his body to mature and continue developing on the field.
The Noles didn’t land a QB for 2019(Sam Howell) until April 2018 and he wasn’t the most vocal recruiter for the class. I don’t think that’ll be the case for Jeff Sims and he’ll have an early start to help build Tribe20 around him.
This is just what FSU needed to establish some momentum, but ultimately they have to win in 2019 for this 2020 recruiting class to have a chance at being elite.
