FSU football is looking to close strong with its 2019 recruiting class. A four-star linebacker has them in his top 5.

FSU football has most of its 2019 recruiting class done with 15 early signees (six early enrollees).

They have three linebackers committed (two signees) and would like a fourth in the class if possible.

That’s why they had four-star linebacker Eugene Asante as one of the 11 official visitors on campus last weekend.

Asante got to meet with the coaches and learn how he’d fit in their defensive scheme. It was a enough to get FSU football in his top 5 courtesy of a tweet he released Wednesday night:

Thoughts

Asante is player who’s seen his recruitment blow up as of late. He’s climbed over 1,000 spots in 247 Sport’s Composite rankings. He ranks as the No. 12 outside linebacker and the No. 282 player nationally.

He hails from Virginia and FSU has had great success with players from that state with the old regime.

The major players in this recruitment seem to be Virginia Tech, FSU and UNC with Asante scheduled to visit UNC this weekend.

He seemed to enjoy his visit to Tallahassee by all accounts, but I do believe distance is going to be a factor here.

I don’t see a player like Asante leaving Virginia to go to Nebraska. I also don’t see him choosing a school like Maryland over Virginia Tech, FSU or even UNC since they are getting the last visit it seems.

I think its going to be a hard pull for the Noles on this one. They might have gotten in on him too little too late as they just offered him on January 14th.

However, at the same time the offer was enough to get him on campus for the visit last week. The Noles have a shot even though Virginia Tech as 100 percent of the crystal ball predictions.

They aren’t always accurate, but he would be an excellent addition to the class should FSU pull this one out.
