FSU football brought home one of the best receivers in recent memory to join the staff, and so far he is loving every moment of being back home.

If you are Ron Dugans, what a difference a month has made – at this point on December 30th, he was wondering what his job status would be at the University of Miami after the retirement of their head coach. Fast forward to January 30th and he is a week and a half into being the newest wide receivers coach for FSU football, where he shined just two decades ago.

True, it isn’t always the best thing to be fired from a job as Dugans and the rest of the offensive coaches were when new Miami head coach (and fellow FSU grad) Manny Diaz cleared house after taking over – but it has allowed Dugans to return to his hometown and to the program that he helped lead to a national title.

After turning down FSU football head coach Willie Taggart in December 2017 when he was approached about becoming the Noles position coach, Dugans said heck yeah and was announced as the newest member of the staff on January 20th – a move that allowed last year’s receivers coach, David Kelly, to move back to the administrative side of things.

In the short time that the former FAMU High and Seminoles star has been back in his hometown, Dugans has made it clear that he is happy to be back in the garnet and gold.

Look, I will be the first person who will admit that seeing Dugans in green and orange and throwing up that U and posting on social media good things about the Hurricanes made me sick. I know it was for a paycheck and might have been the best thing for his career, but seeing a FSU football star with the enemy made my stomach turn.

Now, Dugans is back where he should be and will help out the Seminoles immensely at the wide receiver position. He made average players look decent down in Coral Gables – so imagine what he can do with talented players like Keyshawn Helton and Tamorrion Terry among others.

dark. Next. 3 positives of hiring Ron Dugans on staff

It’s a thrill any time a former Noles star returns home to the family – but there is something special brewing with Dugans making his return to the 850.
