FSU Football: Official visits bring key recruits in certain positions
FSU football will welcome a dozen of the top recruits in the country to campus over the next two weekends before National Signing Day.
Signing Day is approaching, and FSU football is still working to fill holes in certain positions. Early signing day, believe it or not, was already a success for many of those positions. The secondary has done extremely well in recruiting with five star cornerback Akeem Dent and four star safety Raymond Woodie III already enrolled.
Three star cornerback Renardo Green and Jarvis Brownlee have signed letters of intent. This is not to mention those considered hard commits like four star safeties Nick Cross and Brendan Gant, and four star cornerback Travis Jay, who has stated last week he was shutting down recruitment and going to sign the Noles.
On the offensive line, FSU football has made progress more so than in other years with four star offensive guard Dontae Lucas already enrolled. Letters of intent were signed by three star recruits Maurice Smith and Jay Williams.
If the Noles can get Landon Dickerson and Cole Minshew healthy and back in the game, any improvement on the line is an improvement especially with the right quarterback given offensive coordinator Kendal Briles’ fast paced offense.
Of course, the fun doesn’t stop as many more visits from top recruits are scheduled for this upcoming weekend as well as next weekend.
Quarterback
- Lance Legrende: four star dual threat.
- John Rhys Plumlee: A four star UGA commit will take his official visit here on February 2nd (his last before signing day).
Offensive Line
- Ira Henry: three star OT
- Kamaar Bell: three star OG
Defense
- Travis Jay (commit): four star CB
- Brendan Gant (commit): four star S
- Shammond Cooper: four star DB (committed to Illinois)
- Kevon Glenn: three star LB
- Charles Moore: four star DE
- Quashon Fuller (commit): four star DE
Other positions of importance to note is that four star outside linebacker Jaleel Mcrae, and three star defensive tackles Malcolm Ray and Tru Thompson are already enrolled while four star linebacker Kalen DeLoach, four star defensive end Curtis Fann, three star wide receiver Maurice Goolsby, three star defensive end Derrick McLendon and three star linebacker Kevon Glenn all signed letters of intent.
FSU football is well aware that certain positions need to be filled quickly, hence why they have gone the JUCO route on some to accomplish that. With new coaching hires such as Ron Dugans, James Blackman potentially staying, new enrollees and new interest among recruits 2019 is looking a little better.
