FSU Football: Website gives Noles failing grade for 2018 season

FSU football had a season to forget during 2018 and one website said they would not be able to graduate if this season was a final exam.

While some people might say that us and other media outlets have beaten to the death the fact that the FSU football team had a season to forget in 2018 – the first losing season in over four decades and the first non-bowl season in over three and a half, in case you forgot – and trust us, it hurts as much to write about it as it does you reading it.

But what hurts even more is when we see someone else write about it. It’s one thing when the Seminoles family is honest with one another, but it’s another thing when other people ave the audacity to talk smack about our teams!

The latest one to point out the flaws of last season for FSU football would be USA Today, which gave every FBS college football team a grade based on the way a team’s season played out after the hype that came with the preseason – and after all the hype surrounding the Seminoles before 2018, you can see that the Noles would not have passed if this was a test.

The Seminoles did come into the season with so many expectations – chances of winning the ACC and getting back to a New Years Six bowl game were among them – in part that came with the arrival of Willie Taggart and in part trying to show up the previous administration that abandoned the program for a big payday.

The truth of the matter is that, while no one would have accepted a 5-7 season for FSU football in 2018, it might have been easier to swallow if there hadn’t been as much of the hype and people had played for a wait and see approach.

If that had taken place, people would have seen that Taggart and his way of coaching was not the sole reason for what took place in 2018 – that the failures of the previous “leader” and most of his staff left the Seminoles what they were this season.

If anything, what took place in 2018 will bring down expectations for this season slightly – so that when FSU football does succeed this season, they will get not just a passing grade but one with flying colors.
