FSU Football: Why Kendal Briles hire worth the risk for Willie Taggart

Quick Turnarounds
FSU football was one of the worst offenses in the country in 2018. They ranked No. 108 according to S&P advanced metrics.
They were terrible at running the ball, third down conversions and only averaged 21.9 ppg. Briles has a history of improving offenses in a hurry.
Under the direction of Briles, Florida Atlantic’s offense went from 26.4 ppg and 5.7 ypp in 2016 to 40.6 and 6.8 ypp in 2017.
Houston’s offense went from 28.3 ppg and 6 ypp in 2017 to 43.9 ppg and 6.59 per play in 2018.
I’m not saying Briles will have FSU football averaging 40 ppg in 2019, but if he’s able to get them from 21.9 to 30+ ppg it’ll give FSU fans a sense of hope for the future.
I know fans don’t want to hear this, but FSU football shouldn’t be expected to compete for an ACC title until 2021.
That would be Briles’ third year and the offense should elite by that time frame if history continues to repeat itself.
Willie Taggart borrowed a great deal from the Briles system, so it shouldn’t be difficult for both he and Taggart to figure out how they want to do things.
