FSU Football: Why Kendal Briles hire worth the risk for Willie Taggart

FSU football needs offensive results on the field in 2019 after arguably the worst offensive year in recent memory. We discuss the hire of Kendal Briles.
FSU football officially announced the hire of new offensive coordinator Kendal Briles Sunday afternoon.
It was a move that had been expected for some time, but we learned Briles wanted to coach through Houston’s bowl game which potentially saved FSU money contract wise.
It’s a move that likely will not come without some backlash, although things seem to be relatively quiet among national writers.
There are some FSU fans that have voiced their displeasure for the hire and they are certainly entitled to their opinions.
Briles was an assistant coach under his father Art Briles at Baylor who was fired amid a huge sexual assault scandal that came to light after the 2015 season.
Though Kendal Briles was never directly implicated, his last name alone still harbors ill will among some that believe he had to know what was going on under his father’s watch.
This offensive coordinator position at FSU is his third job removed from his position at Baylor and he hasn’t been associated with anything like what was happening at Baylor at the other two positions.
It’s difficult to gather information from the case because Baylor is a private institution, but two other institutions have vetted Briles with nothing coming to fruition.
FSU has done its due diligence on him and felt good enough to sign off on the hire. Let’s discuss why the hire is worth the risk for Willie Taggart and FSU football.
