FSU Football: Fans react to Dontavious Jackson returning for senior year
By Kelvin Hunt
FSU football will have its most experienced linebacker in the fold for the 2019 season. Fans react to Dontavious Jackson returning to FSU.
FSU football needs experience and depth when it comes to the linebacker position after taking just one in last year’s recruiting cycle.
Dontavious Jackson, the team’s most experienced linebacker announced he’d be back for the 2019 season.
Jackson entered the 2018 season as the team’s most experienced linebackers with just over 30 career tackles which clearly was foreshadowing how that unit would play.
However, Jackson was a bright spot at the position more times than not while playing with a couple of injuries during the season.

Fan Reaction
All the FSU football fans recognized he likely needed to come back to improve his draft stock at the next level.
Thoughts
I don’t think anyone was surprised Jackson wasn’t entering his name into the NFL Draft as he wasn’t thought to be a candidate to do so after his first real season as a starter.
He did prove he’s a capable player and blew away all of his stats from the past two seasons. Jackson finished second on the team with 75 total tackles and seven tackles for loss.
He also had three passes defended, a sack and a forced fumble on the year. His senior leadership will be invaluable to the slate of linebackers FSU football is expected to sign in the 2019 recruiting class.
Hopefully Jackson along with some other young linebackers like Leonard Warner, Amari Gainer, Emmett Rice and others can form a respectable linebacker unit in 2019.
