FSU football probably avoided some controversy with the news that Josh Ball has decided to re-enroll at FSU.

FSU football is coming off its worst seasons in over 40 seasons while missing a bowl game for the first time in 36 seasons.

The program is still looking for an offensive coordinator and there’s a lot of smoke surrounding Kendal Briles taking that role.

That last name brings controversy however you want to spin it despite being a couple of jobs removed from the Baylor staff that was tied to the sexual assault scandal that saw his father Art Briles lose the head coaching job there.

There has been a lot of less than stellar narratives surrounding the program over the last year or so.

Former offensive lineman Josh Ball could have been the next thing to add to those narratives, but he announced he will not re-enroll at FSU after being suspended for a conduct violation that included a series of alleged assaults against his former girlfriend.

Thoughts

As you can see the reactions were mixed on social media with the thought Ball could try to rejoin the FSU football program if he were to re-enroll in the spring.

There is no guarantee that would have happened as that would have been up to Coach Willie Taggart if he were to be allowed to re-enroll.

However, FSU football is in dire need of depth on the offensive line and Ball would have provided that possibly as he started nine games in 2017.

The Noles are looking to land a couple of JUCO players and a couple of talented true freshmen in the 2019 class to address the need.

There’s no guarantee that juice would have been worth the squeeze if Ball was allowed to come back to the program as our own Jason Parker pointed out in the link below.

Good luck to Josh Ball and hopefully he can get his degree while doing something positive.
