FSU football still has four star cornerback Travis Jay committed to the program, but that hasn’t stopped other schools from making a late push.

If there is one good thing about FSU football suffering their first losing season in decades and not going to a bowl game for the first time since before some of us at Chop Chat were even born, it is that head coach Willie Taggart and his assistants can devote all of their time to getting the best players to make #Tribe19 the next class that doesn’t know what a losing season feels like.

One of the players who has been listed as a solid commit for the Seminoles since the high school season began has been Travis Jay, a quarterback and defensive back from Madison County, Florida who is listed as a four star prospect after leading his school to a  state title this past weekend.

Jay, who ran for 160 yards on seven carries with two touchdowns last weekend in Orlando, has long been thought to be a FSU football solid commit, but plenty of other schools – including the rival Florida Gators – sent assistant coaches down to Camping World Stadium trying to get him to flip (according to Swamp 247 Sports).

"“They said I can be a big help and I’m a great player and I can help them win, plus get a great education,” Jay said of UF.Jay confirmed he planned to take an official visit to Florida, but did not know a date yet. Tennessee is another team Jay said he would visit. The Vols sent Charles Kelly by to see him.“They said the same, I can come in and be great, help the team, and education, that’s all I need.”"

Jay went on to say that his FSU football commitment is “still the same” and that he is just taking his recruiting visits. However, with the fact that the Seminoles are recruiting after a losing season for the first time since long before there were recruiting services and rankings, those in garnet and gold are going to be nervous until these players sign.

The latest crystal ball projections from 247 Sports have Jay being 100 percent committed to the Seminoles – so now it’s just a matter of time to wait and see if Jay does indeed become the next great defensive back to play for the Seminoles.
