Accountability

This by far is the biggest reason. Willie Taggart’s slogan is “Blame no one, Make No Excuses, Do Something” right?

I understand Willie Taggart didn’t fire Walt Bell, but I believe he knew he had to go another direction and some discussions about that seem to have taken place and how Bell leaves somewhere like FSU and ends up at UMass.

Willie Taggart said he was going to evaluate everything including himself. It looks like now he’s going to hire an offensive coordinator that he’ll likely hand over play calling to in 2019.

He did a test run with Walt Bell at the end of the year so we at least know he’s willing to do that. No offensive coordinator with a lot of experience is going to come to Tally and not call plays.

So that tells the players on the team that he’s holding himself accountable and the offense last season was not acceptable.

Not only does the move to hire a new offensive coordinator support Taggart’s slogan, it also sends a message to the players.

A message that if Taggart is going to hold himself accountable for hire of Walt Bell, he’s going to hold them accountable if they aren’t putting in the work to get better on and off the field.

There’s no excuse for the FSU offense to look as bad as it did in 2018 and at least it looks like Willie Taggart is willing to do something about it.
