New Voice

Listen, in hindsight I wonder how much the players respected Walt Bell. He was a young coach that came in relatively inexperienced as an offensive coordinator.

It was clear Willie Taggart was going to call the plays from the onset and Bell communicated he was cool with that by saying he was a “good little soldier” and knew to stay in his lane basically.

However, a post on social media by slot receiver D.J. Matthews caught my eye Tuesday and it sort of sent a cryptic message.

Matthews tried to explain the tweet as no disrespect to Bell in a follow up tweet and maybe there’s nothing to it. However, it’s not like players on the team seem utterly devastated at the news.

I think FSU needs an experienced offensive coordinator with a proven track record who can say here’s what I’ve done here, here and here.

Players are more likely to buy in from day one and a new era can begin, especially if Willie Taggart totally hands the reigns of the offense over to the new hire.

Frankly, with how the offense looked in 2018, I’m not sure the players on the team were too interested in listening too much to what Bell has to say in 2019.

The best time to hit the reset button was right now opposed to another year of forced marriage that you ultimately knew wasn’t going to yield the results needed.
