2018 College Football Times and TV Schedule: Championship Weekend
By Jason Parker
Here’s a look at when and where college football fans can catch all the best action from Championship Weekend of the 2018 season from the ACC and Top 25.
While it is the lowest number of games on the college football slate for the 2018 season – with just 30 teams taking the field this weekend, including 10 doing so just because of make up games from hurricanes, thunderstorms and wildfires – the final weekend of the regular season is the one with the most interest thanks to the impact it will have on the upcoming bowl season.
While it’s a weekend that FSU football fans haven’t had a rooting interest in for years now (since 2014 to be exact), those in garnet and gold will love to watch and see possible chaos should upsets take place this weekend.
The conventional wisdom is that one of the four spots in the College Football Playoff is already filled after Notre Dame finished their regular season unbeaten – with two teams pretty much in a “win and you’re in” situation which leaves three teams essentially fighting for the final spot – and that’s only if everything goes as planned.
Just one upset and let the chaos begin – and that’s what us on the outside like to see. Here’s the list for the rest of Championship Weekend’s games for the 2018 campaign as several games involving teams playing for their conference title have already taken place this week.
12 PM – No. 5 Oklahoma vs. No. 14 Texas (Big 12 CG in Arlington) (ABC)
Nothing like college football rivals playing again in the postseason to take some of the luster off the game (I only say that because FSU is 1-2 against Miami and Florida in the postseason)
12PM – Louisiana Lafayette at Appalachian State (Sun Belt CG) (ESPN)
12 PM – Akron at South Carolina (SEC Network)
12 PM – Marshall at Virginia Tech (ACC Digital)
A win by the Thundering Herd would end the Hokies’ now longest current bowl streak – so I speak for everyone when I say do it, Marshall.
12 PM – East Carolina at NC State (ACC Digital)
12 PM – Drake at No. 23 Iowa State (online)
1:30 PM – UAB at Middle Tennessee State (CUSA CG) (CBS Sports Network)
3:30 PM – Memphis at No. 8 UCF (American CG) (ABC)
3 PM – Stanford at Cal (Pac 12 Network)
4 PM – No. 1 Alabama vs. No. 4 Georgia (SEC CG in Atlanta) (CBS)
The worst part about this game is having to root for the Crimson Tide to win since a loss by Alabama would actually send both teams to the Crimson Tide Invitational – I mean the College Football Playoff.
7:45 PM – No. 25 Fresno State at No. 23 Boise State (MWC CG) (ESPN)
8 PM – No. 2 Clemson vs. Pittsburgh (ACC CG in Charlotte) (ABC)
8 PM – No. 6 Ohio State vs. No. 21 Northwestern (Big Ten CG in Indianapolis) (FOX)
