FSU football hasn’t been an underdog too much in 2018 despite four losses. That won’t be the case against NC State.

The Noles are coming off one of their worst losses in school history against Clemson as a 17 point underdog at Doak Campbell Stadium.

It won’t get any easier as FSU football will be traveling to their Little Shop of Horrors at Carter-Finley Stadium in Raleigh, North Carolina, to face the NC State Wolfpack.

The Noles opened at -6.5 point underdogs on the road with the line already being bet up to -7 and most online sites.

FSU was a slight betting favorite against the Wolfpack in the preseason, but seasonal performances thus far would say NC State should be the favorite.

They have one of the best quarterbacks in the conference in Ryan Finley and a system that fits him to get the ball to their playmakers in space.

FSU football has the better defense that’s ranked No. 29 according to S&P and that’s after the Clemson beatdown. They were ranked No. 21 prior to that game whereas NC State is ranked No. 49 defensively.

The biggest difference between the two teams is offensively where NC State is ranked No. 31 whereas FSU is ranked No. 111.

Yep, that’s going to be a problem if the FSU offense can’t move the ball against NC State’s defense. Although FSU has the edge defensively, they can’t hold down opposing offenses forever just based on sheer field position.

At some point the FSU offense isn’t going to move the ball and will give opposing offenses a short field which makes it harder for the FSU defense to bow up.

That’s one of the biggest reasons FSU is an underdog against NC State other than it being a road game that’s historically a tough place for them to win.

They can win this game is they don’t turn the ball over and commit stupid penalties. However, that’s something they have been unable to do all season as they have at least one turnover in every game.
