The FSU football bye week, following the loss of a 20 point lead to in state rival Miami, couldn’t have came at a better time.

FSU football will get a chance to bounce back and get back right mentality just in time for homecoming – in a game that might be the most important in recent program history with the murder’s row schedule awaiting the Seminoles in the coming weeks.

Here are my key match-ups to beating the Demon Deacons.

0-Line must continue to improve

The FSU football offensive line played an above average first half against Miami before things collapsed in the second. They must continue must continue to improve to give Deondre Francois time to make things happen in the passing game. Also, they must create holes in running game. While they have been improving this group is still far from good, Wake’s underwhelming defense good help this unit get on track.

Stop Wake Forest WR Greg Dortch

Dortch is questionable for today’s game but when healthy he is the arguably the best receiver in the ACC. One of the biggest disappointments in the season has been the secondary, they consistently found themselves getting torched again and again.

Florida State cannot let this guy get behind them whatsoever, last year he accounted for 110 yards on 10 receptions against FSU. This guy will be playing on Sunday’s, I believe with his skill set our best bet is having Levonta Taylor shadow him.

Get a running back going

At this point it doesn’t matter which one, we just have to get a FSU football running back going  if we want to see our offense at full force. We have been horrible on the ground, down right atrocious. We have to get a running back going early and keep feeding him.

We have to find balance and that means running to open the passing game. Akers seems primed to break out, but he needs to trust what he sees and stop trying to hit a home run every play.

Score Prediction

38-10. Noles. This is the game the tide starting churning and FSU turns the corner. I think the bye week will serve as an adjustment period and they’ll starting being more competitive and start winning games.
