Conclusion

Again, this isn’t calling players out as so much as it’s saying these were players we had high expectations for in 2018.

All of them are experienced and have proven they can play the game at a high level at one time or another.

The defense has been better than advertised aside from busts in coverage here and there. If Levonta Taylor can keep improving on his last two games, it’ll go a long way to giving he secondary fewer holes to deal with.

It’s true Cam Akers is largely dependent upon the offensive line for production, but he can do a better job of hitting the right holes and demonstrating patience in getting a tough 2-3 yards instead of trying to bounce things outside for no gain or a loss.

Finally, Deondre Francois just has to be better. It’s a simple offense. Just look at the numbers at the line of scrimmage and make a decision to throw the ball to the side where there’s three receivers and only two defenders.

If it’s a read play, keep the ball and run it if the edge defender crashes. If he drops back to pass and the target he’s eyeing isn’t open just pull the ball down and take off for positive yards because apparently he’s going to get hit either way.

At least he can try to protect himself better if he can see the hit coming. If FSU football can get these three players to elevate their games, it’s quite possible FSU can win three more games in the next six games.
