FSU football hasn’t been actively going after the soon to be former Clemson quarterback, but one site things they are one of the six best bets.

It was less than one year ago when, on a overcast day in the state of South Carolina, Kelly Bryant threw for just 151 yards and no touchdowns while running for 60 yards and adding a score as the starting quarterback for the Clemson Tigers in their score-looked-bigger-than-it-was 31-14 victory over an FSU football team that was 2-5 entering the game.

Now that he is looking for a new school to play for after being replaced as starter for the Tigers two games ago, Bryant is openly looking for a new school to play for – and one Vegas sports book is saying the Seminoles are among the schools with the best shot at landing him.

Oddsshark, a partner with FanSided and ChopChat.com, says that FSU football ranks as one of the six teams who could land Bryant when he decides to go to a new program – joined by two other ACC programs and three others from the Big Ten.

Now, the irony of that is The Spun cited a report by 247 Sports that Bryant was going to take a visit to North Carolina and see what the Tar Heels have to offer – but they aren’t on that list. So far, Bryant has not scheduled any other visits, or at least not made them public, to FSU football or any other program.

Now, if Bryant were to come to Tallahassee, he would have just one year of eligibility left during the 2019 season and would have to compete with James Blackman – who he beat in that 2017 game between the Seminoles and Tigers – for the starting spot assuming Deondre Francois turns pro after this season.

Forgetting for a moment that Bryant – while extremely talented – did lose some stock when he was replaced by a true freshman and got some people upset by leaving the program midseason (personally, I don’t blame him and looking out for his best interest, but that’s just my opinion), let us not forget what took place the last time FSU football had a rental quarterback for a season.

I believe we all remember the name Everett Golson? Yes, he started off the season well and was sidelined with a concussion for several games, but once he came back he never was the same and he was MIA for pretty much the last month of the season. The hype that came with him arriving from Notre Dame didn’t live up to what took place on the field.

dark. Next. Brian Burns living up to the preseason hype

I’m not automatically saying FSU football shouldn’t kick the tires on Bryant if the option is there – but with Blackman in the fold and maybe D12 for one more season, I would almost be inclined to say “no thanks” to a one year rental you would still have to train.
