FSU football got a much-needed conference win on the road to avenge two previous losses against the Louisville Cardinals.

FSU football lost the time of possession, third down conversion, total first downs, field position and total yards battle against Louisville.

However, the ability to force turnovers, holding Louisville to a field goal on a crucial possession and a little bit of help from Bobby Petrino making a couple of dumb decisions is all the Noles needed to steal a ACC Atlantic road win to avenge back-to-back losses to the Cardinals.

It was a game FSU football probably didn’t deserve to win, but it’s why teams must play the full 60 minutes. Have you ever seen a player streaking down the sidelines to score only to see a defensive player hustle and force him out-of-bounds at the five yard line?

Then a couple of plays later the defense forces a turnover? What if that defensive player hadn’t hustled to make the tackle to save he sure touchdown?

That’s not exactly what happened in the Louisville game, but it’s close because the Cardinals were close to putting the Noles away late in the third quarter before a timely fumble and opportunistic offense gave the Noles new life.

The defense played a TON of plays in the first half and managed to keep the Noles in the game despite the offensive struggles in the first half.

It was a win the Noles had to have and somehow the found a way to make it happen when it mattered most. Let’s get into our three takeaways for the game.
