FSU Football has always been in the conversation as being the best at producing secondary players, but one website says there is no one better.

Throughout the last three decades, the FSU football program has produced championships at the conference and national level as well as become one of the best programs when it comes to sending players at a certain position to the next level – defensive back.

From names like Deion Sanders and Derwin James to Terrell Buckley and LeRoy Butler, the Seminoles have alumni across the league and in the record books as being some of the best cornerbacks and safeties to play the game – including current stars like Jalen Ramsey, Xavier Rhodes and Lamarcus Joyner.

The debate over what college program has been the real ‘DBU’ over the past few years has become quite expansive and heated at times – with programs like LSU, Virginia Tech and even rival Florida wanting to challenge FSU football for the title.

One website, The Draft Network, recently said the debate is over after it evaluated all of the contenders and ruled that the Seminoles are indeed the true DBU.

"If you’re looking for star power in the defensive backfield, Florida State has an embarrassing amount of riches that dwarfs what Florida has produced.Ramsey and Rhodes are top five corners in the NFL according to most lists, and Joyner is one of the league’s most versatile safeties. If James follows suit, you could easily argue that the Seminoles have produced five of the top 30-40 defensive backs in the league. If you’re looking for the team that has produced the best NFL talent with the least amount of busts, which should be the most important criteria here, the Florida State Seminoles are DBU."

Now, just because one site says that FSU football is where you go for defensive backs doesn’t mean the debate truly is over – because the Gators and Hokies and Tigers and every other school are too stubborn to face reality.

Don’t get me wrong, those programs have all produced some great talent – yes, even the Gators have – but as a whole, there is no program that has produced the quality of talent that FSU football has for decades. Heck, even before Deion with names like Bobby Butler, J.T. Thomas and others.

With names like A.J. Westbrook, Stanford Samuels, Kyle Meyers and more already in the lineup and plenty of true freshman with high ceilings ready to fill in the holes, the Seminoles should keep the title for years to come.
