FSU Football: 5 biggest concerns going into 2018 season
By Kelvin Hunt
Passing Game
The FSU football offense will look a bit different from the old regime with an offense centered around the run game. It’ll be close to a 60/40 split between the run and the pass.
That should serve the Noles well as they have the best backfield in the ACC and an offensive line that’s proven adept at run blocking the past few years.
However, one of my biggest concerns is what will the Noles offense look like if they have to pass the ball in 2018?
The old regime caught a lot of flack, but one thing they could do was put the ball in the air when they didn’t have a true freshman quarterback under the center.
For instance, Oregon took on Washington State last season(with a true freshman QB) and was held to 2.9 yards per rush (45 rushed for 132 yards). They were 2 of 17 on third down and 0-3 on fourth down.
How will FSU fare when they have to face an elite defensive front like Clemson? Will the passing game be good enough to keep Clemson from stacking the box against the run game?
Can the FSU offense be creative enough in getting the ball to their playmakers to make an impact?
Will they be able to put the ball in the air with success if they get down by two touchdowns in the second half of a game?
