FSU football almost has almost completed the first week of fall camp. Head coach Willie Taggart spoke with the media Friday morning.

FSU football is moving closer and closer to the official introduction of the Willie Taggart era as week one of fall camp comes to a close.

Media has gotten a lot of time to see how things are transpiring and who’s doing what this week.

All things seem to be going well with the players showing lots of enthusiasm, competitiveness and most importantly having fun on the practice fields.

Coach Taggart seems to be making all the right moves since becoming head coach in December. He announced legendary FSU defensive coordinator Mickey Andrews would be joining the staff as a special assistant.

The Noles announced they’ll be singing the FSU fight song after every FSU win during the season. Also, the Noles will be having camp at IMG Academy starting next week in which many are calling a “power move” by Willie Taggart.

He touches on a lot of topics in the 10 minute interview with the press and it can be viewed entirely below:

Thoughts

It sounds like the players are ahead of schedule with learning the offense and defense with the older players helping the younger players.

We learned FSU football is breaking the team up into two groups to help facilitate more reps for the young guys while being more time efficient with its veterans.

It sounds like the quarterback race is at a dead heat right now with all three players making plays. The wide receivers seem to be standing out as well with Tamorrion Terry and Keith Gavin leading the way, however, Coach Taggart mentions a couple of true freshmen by name as well.

The one thing that keeps standing out is Coach Taggart stressing getting the best players on the field. They have moved a couple of highly touted players to different positions for this reason.

Stanford Samuels has moved from cornerback to safety and Zaquandre White has moved from running back to linebacker.

All in all a good first week for the Noles in fall camp with next week moving to IMG Academy. Taggart wants to create an atmosphere of being uncomfortable, sorta like the scene from the movie “Remember The Titans” when they left for camp.
